DEBRIS DUMPED ON THIRUVANMIYUR BEACH…

         At least 10 truckloads of debris including construction and plastic waste have been dumped on the sands of Thiruvanmiyur Beach. The waste is dumped into a water channel dug in the sands to let rainwater flow into the sea and pathway on the beach near Arupadai Veedu Murugan temple. Residents say that this practice has been going on for a long time, but no action has been taken.    A resident  of Thiruvanmiyur, said dumping of debris has been happening frequently for the last few years.
	“They dump garden waste and block the water flow. It pollutes the beach and also creates a hassle for people who take a stroll on the beach, who flagged the issue with ward 179 councillor.
	Workers    attached   to construction firms bring debris and dump it at night. There are no CCTV cameras. After people complained, the corporation has now begun to clear the waste.
