On 2nd October 2022 Women’s Indian association (WIA) & GREEN Velachery team and RCCV jointly celebrated 152nd Gandhi jayanthi. Planted 152 tree sapplings and 500 palm seeds to commemorate 152 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and completion of 25 years of leprosy rehabilitation programme of WIA and Centenary celebration of Padmabhushan Dr.Sarojini Varadappan, Former president, WIA, & Smt.Janaki Venkatraman, Former first lady of India Patron,WIACheif guest of the event Mrs. Padma Venkatraman (President WIA) and Ms.Barghavi Devendra, Hony. Secretary and members of WIA participated in this event Street play was also organized to create awareness among the public that Leprosy is not a contagious disease and they must be included in the society.
Mrs. Padma Venkataraman is giving Medical facilities, Education and livelihood projects in 30 colonies in Tamil Nadu. She is also running a fress school for the children of Leprosy affected parents with free food and education. Ten government run homes are also getting livelihood projects.
