Chennai: Greater Chennai Police have become the overall champion of the 61st Tamil Nadu police inter-zonal sports meet 2021-22. Tamil Nadu special police force came second in the two-day meet organized in Velachery.
Held on march 6 & 7 two days, the meet featured three competitions swimming, cross-country running and cycling in six categories for men and women, and a separate category for men in the obstacles Competition.
Of the teams that participated – Chennai metropolitan police, Tamil Nadu special police force (TSP), northern zone, southern zone, western zone, central zone and commando force (TNCF) – Chennai city police won first place in the men’s and women’s swimming competitions and men’s cross country competition.
Chennai police commissioner Shankar Jiwal handed over medals and trophies to the winners.
